The irtec Licensing Scheme has a new website, launching this Monday alongside the refreshed IRTE Workshop Accreditation platform. irtec is the industry-standard accreditation for PSV and HGV technicians, and this rebuild gives technicians, employers and assessment centres a faster, clearer way to get licensed, get verified, and find each other.

What Is irtec?
irtec is an independent accreditation, developed by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (part of SOE), that validates the competence of technicians working across the commercial vehicle, trailer and passenger-carrying industries. It’s a voluntary scheme designed to raise standards and encourage self-regulation in road transport maintenance โ testing both practical skill and technical knowledge across five licence types, from Service Maintenance Technician through to Master Technician and Large Electric Vehicle accreditation.
Why This Launch Matters
irtec accreditation is recognised across the industry โ by the DVSA, by Traffic Commissioners assessing operator competence, and increasingly by fleet operators who require it in maintenance contracts. That recognition depends on the accreditation data being trustworthy and easy to verify. The new site was built to make that as simple as possible, for technicians proving their competence and for employers checking it.
What’s New on the Site
- An irtec Technician Directory โ a searchable, up-to-date record of accredited technicians, pulled live from Dynamics 365 CRM
- Clear licence pathways โ dedicated pages for each of the five irtec licences, so technicians can quickly find the right route for their role
- An Assessment Centre directory โ helping technicians find their nearest approved centre to sit their assessment
- A cleaner “Get Accredited” journey โ fewer clicks between landing on the site and starting the accreditation process
- Live CRM integration โ licence records, technician listings and assessment centre data all sync automatically, so nothing goes out of date
Built for Real-World Use
Technicians and employers don’t always browse from a desk โ a lot of irtec’s audience is checking accreditation from a workshop floor or a fleet office. The new site was designed mobile-first, so the technician directory and licence information are just as usable on a phone as on a laptop.
Raccoon Web: Behind the Build
We designed and developed the new irtec Accreditation site for SOE, launching this week alongside the IRTE Workshop Accreditation platform and the wider SOE website. All three now share the same live Dynamics 365 CRM data, giving the whole road transport ecosystem one consistent, trustworthy source of truth.
